He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas E. Brenneman and Hannah Elizabeth Brenneman; and his siblings, Dorothy M. Showalter, Margaret Rose, Betty Jane Roarabaugh, George F. Brenneman and James R. Brenneman.

He is survived by: his wife Betty J. "Bets" Mattern; his children, Charles A. "Butch" Brenneman (Marie) of Hollidaysburg, PA, Beth E. O'Dowd (Daniel) of Houston, TX and Daniel L. Brenneman (Mary) of Drums, PA; and his grandchildren, Scott Brenneman (Lisa), Nicki Beauchamp (Michael), Ben Brenneman (Meghan), Charlie Brenneman (Amanda), Michael O'Dowd and Matthew O'Dowd. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.
