He was predeceased by: his father Daniel; and his brother Jack. He is survived by: his parent Audrey Rohol Matthews; his daughters, Brandi Matthews and Kristi Matthews; his grandchildren, Noah Sykes, Levi Sykes and Sydney Sykes; his siblings, John Matthews (Jen) and Sherry Johnson (Kenny); and his significant other Patty Rizzo. He is also survived by three nieces and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
