He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Appel and Frances Hope Appel; and his brothers, Thomas, David, Ronald and Jack Appel.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Malloy Appel; his children, Tracy Patton, Cathy (Andy Semanek) and Robert Appel; and his grandchildren, Dennis, Danny, Hannah, Haley, Alexis, Megan and Stevie.
