He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Stempien and Nellie Stempien; his wife Genevieve Hajduga Stempien; his great grandchild Scott Joseph Emerick; and his brothers, Carl and John Stempien.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Stempien Jr. (Eileen) and Karen Keating (James); his granddaughters, Lee Ann Stempien and Lauren Stempien (Scott Emerick); and his great grandchild Belle Emerick. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
