He was predeceased by: his parents, John Saraka and Helen Saraka (Holodick); his former wife Margaret Louise; and his siblings, Michael Saraka, Timothy Saraka, Mildred Silveri, Evelyn Lisoski, Irene Spilman and Winifred Gail Pugh.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Lou; his children, John S. Saraka Jr. of Shippensburg, Kimberly Lichwa (Bryan) of New Tripoli and Maura A. O'Donnell (Jack) of White Haven; his grandchildren, John S. Saraka III, Brandon Saraka, Antonio Lopez (Haya), Arielle Lopez Kaminski (James), Kacey Lopez, Alexandra and Baylee Bukeavich; his great grandchildren, Remington Saraka and James Allen Kaminski Jr.; and his siblings, Norman Saraka (Donna Levandowski) of Wilkes-Barre, Diana Rader (Bryan) of Carlisle, Helen Pugh of South Wilkes, Sharon Ashton (William "Perry") of Dallas and Numerous. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, fellow colleagues and dear friends.
