He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward C. Hayes Sr. and Reathella Simpson (James); and his siblings, Ethella Mae Palmer, Lynn Knox and Ivan Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Dawn Hayes (Coleman); his daughter Maria Carter (Jamaal Carter) of Brandywine, MD; his grandchildren, Ava Carter, Kayden Carter, Kayla Glover, Keyshawn Glover, Marquis Howard, Korah Glover, David Glover, Gianna Glover, Khalil White, King-Jalen, Karissa and Kaleb Spade; his great grandchild Luna Bert; his siblings, Lester Simpson, Grace Simpson and Bonita Simpson; and his siblings-in-law, William Knox, Gregory Coleman, Stephan Coleman, Anthony Coleman, Melanie Thompson, Deborah Coleman and Crystal Dubose. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
