Chad C. Eddinger, 49, of Mountaintop, formerly of Nescopeck, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. He was a COVID 19 warrior.
Born in Berwick on January 2, 1971, he was the son of Mary Ellen (Chaban) Ravis and husband Samuel of Nescopeck, and the late Jeb L. Eddinger. He graduated from Berwick High School in 1989 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served for 4 years and was deployed during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In 1996, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for over 8 years where he served several tours overseas. After an honorable discharge, Chad attended Bloomsburg University where he received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. He worked at 97.9X radio where he embraced his love for music and had the opportunity to meet many music stars. Most recently he was employed at the VA Medical center, Wilkes-Barre.
Chad was a member of various military associations. He was an avid reader, liked hunting and was a gun collector. He was fond of animals and was charitable to the SPCA. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews whom he spent many hours playing video games and having Nerf gun wars. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking around to make people laugh.
He was preceded in death by: his Father, Jeb L. Eddinger; his maternal grandparents by whom he was raised, Andrew Chaban Jr. and Siree M. (Mackert) Chaban; as well as his paternal grandparents, Jounior L. Eddinger and Blanche M (McHenry) Eddinger and paternal aunt, Melissa A. Eddinger, with whom he spent many weekends with.
In addition to his mother Mary Ellen and husband Sam, he will be greatly missed by his son, Brentt Eddinger and fiancé Melissa Bailey, NC; his sisters, Shannon (Eddinger) Heimbach Ferrara and husband Billy, Berwick; Denise Whitmire, Berwick; Tonya (Whitmire) Bobersky and husband Jonathan, Berwick ; Nicole (Ravis) Heinz, Shelton, CT; Jennifer Ravis, Norwalk, CT; Kiersten Hyman and husband Lee, Harrisburg; Tarrah Whitmire, Buckhorn; a brother, Donnie Whitmire, Berwick; beloved nieces, Morgan Heimbach, Jordan Heimbach and Kaitlyn Heinz; nephews Chase Wilson, Liam Bobersky and Ryan Heinz; stepfather, Donald Whitmire; and numerous cousins.
Due to the current restrictions, immediate services will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
