It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Susan M. (Murray) Gilbert of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, who passed away on August 11, 2020, at the age of 55, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Robert J. Murray. She is survived by: her mother Patricia A. Murray; her husband Stephen D.; her children, Lauren S. and Shane R.; her siblings, Debby Recker (Jeff), Mike Murray (Ellen), Kathy Griener (Jim) and Eileen Stanford (Don); her mother-in-law Evelyn Gilbert (Pete); and her brother-in-law Jim Gilbert (Nancy).

Family and close friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 2-8 p. m. Due to the current public health crisis, masks and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Whitehall Public Library, 100 Borough Park Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.

“Dear Murray and Gilbert family, I wanted you to know how deeply sorry I am about Sue's passing. We met in 9th grade. I instantly loved her personality, her laugh, her warmth. I loved her confidence when it was sometimes tough being 15! We were on the cheer leading squad together, and she was the leader. Some of our best times were at BHS. My memories of her will live on, and I will always smile when I think of her. I will miss her greatly, and I know she's in heaven. Sincerely, Vicki”
