She was predeceased by: her husband Lamar K. Shafer; her parents, Sherwood B. Balliet and Myrtle E. Balliet (Knerr); and her siblings, Sherwood, Carl, Bruce Balliet, Francine Reinert and Mary Jane Michael.
She is survived by: her children, Kathleen Chandler of Wellsboro, PA, Jeffrey Shafer (Joan) of Whitehall and Curtis Shafer (Kathleen) of Bethlehem. She is also survived by Six grandchildren; Five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ruth's name to the Dementia Society of America.
