He was predeceased by: his parents, George Pavelko and Teresa Pavelko (Seier); and his brother Randy Schaffer. He is survived by: his wife Jill Schaffer (Heffelfinger); his brothers, Perry Schaffer (Karen) and George Pavelko (Suzanne); his siblings-in-law, MaryAnn Schaffer, Carol Schaffer and Dr. Eric Heffelfinger; his uncle James Schaffer; and his aunt Marietta Iacocca. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
