He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernardo Melendez-Rivera and Angelina Helen Melendez; his wife Lillian E. Melendez; and his brother Luis Melendez. He is survived by: his children, Manuel Melendez (Cindy), Shawn, Sandra Diaz, Kim and Jennifer Melendez; his grandchildren, Emily, Faith, Zachary, Amorette, Amora Melendez (Carlos), Javier, Luis "Manny" and Yvelisse Diaz; and his siblings, Wilfredo Melendez, Maria Ramos and Madeline Barbosa. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
