He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. Derkits and Bernadine E. Derkits (Haas); and his siblings, John Derkits, Bernadine Kloiber and Tommy Derkits.

He is survived by: his sons, Anthony Derkits (Rosali) of Northampton and Benjamin Derkits (Jamie) of Bath; and his sister Marianne Sodl (James) of Whitehall. He is also survived by many grandchildren nieces, and nephews.

Contributions may be made in David's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
