He was predeceased by: his parents, John Michael and Mary Elizabeth Lichman Pasternak; and his brother Albert. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Begg Pasternak; his son David Pasternak of White Oak; his sister Alice Scheetz (Edward) of McKeesport; and his siblings-in-law, Eleanor Pasternak of White Oak, Frances Leschak of Baldwin, Mildred and Donald Rendulic of Murrysville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
