He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Mackes and Mabel Mackes (Stahley); his son Franklin D. Mackes Jr.; his grandson Kenneth Mackes; and his siblings, Clark Mackes, Jay Mackes, Paul Mackes, Charles Mackes, Dorothea Mackes and Mabel Czapp.
He is survived by: his sons, Jeffrey Mackes (Nadine), Stephen Mackes (Karin), Jon Mackes (Susan) and Richard Mackes (Bridget); and his siblings, David Mackes (Judy), Eugene Mackes (Cathy), Ethel Oliff, Miriam Willis (Marshall), Evelyn Fortun (Charles), Patricia Nice (Ray), Emma Nepert (Doug) and Virginia Gilbert. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
