Robert H. Marchegiano Obituary
Robert H. Marchegiano, 93, of Wexford, formerly of Midland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in UPMC Passavant. Born December 6, 1925 in Blairsville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Albana (Donitel) Marchegiano. Robert retired from Crucible Steel Colt Industries after 30 plus years.
He was a veteran of the US Navy, where he served in WWII. Robert served on the LST he helped build . Robert H. Marchegiano the proper honors and salute for the service given to these United States of America. He served in the United States NAVY during WWll and was awarded American Theatre Commendation, Philippine Liberation Medal. Asian Pacific Medal with Two Stars, WWII Victory Medal. Robert married the love of his life Barbra (Sitig) in 1956, and was a devoted husband to her for 51 years until her passing in 2007. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed playing his harmonica, spending time dining out with his son Paul, and playing horseshoes with his brothers.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Dominic 'Harpo' Marchegiano, Emidio 'Slats' Marchegiano, John 'Sluggi' Marchegiano, Emirico 'Rico' Barney, Pete Barney Jr., and Joseph J. Barney, and Anthony 'Skinny' Barney; and four sisters, Susan Brown, Anita Fry, Loretta Cook and Rose Pizutti.
He is survived by his 3 children, Paul, David, and Robin; 9 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and his pet cat, Buddy. Friends will be received on Sunday from 4:30pm until 7:30pm in the Gabauer-Matter Funeral Home- 1133 Church St., Ambridge www.gabauerfamilyfuneral homes.com. Private interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
