He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Heinl and Leona Harms Heinl; and his wife Margaret M. Haefner Heinl. He is survived by: his sons, Paul Heinl (Barbara) of Marshall Twp, John Heinl of West View and Joe Heinl (Connie) of Prospect; and his brother Edward "Slew" Heinl of McCandless Twp. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
