He was predeceased by: his parents, Thornton Etherington and Louise Etherington (Uster); and his wife Shirley "Dutch" Etherington (Blanish). He is survived by: his children, Daniel Etherington (Kim Durante) of Belle Vernon and Donna McNeil (Bobby Smith) of Collinsburg; his grandchildren, Megan Ward and Kevin McNeil (Angela); his great grandchildren, Justin, Jack, Maverick and Mason; and his siblings, Darlene Weaver (Sandy) of Rostraver, Dennis Etherington (Susan) of Martinsburg and Richard Etherington (Diane) of Turtle Creek. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

“Losing a loved one is hard, but remember the good times and know that Butch was loved by many and will be dearly missed by his friends. Many people will remember him fondly. I know I lost a good friend and I will remember sitting and talking and drinking beer with him. We would talk about people and things that happened long ago and he always knew what was new and all the Collinsburg gossip. Like I said, I lost a good buddy and I will miss him. Ron Bergman”
