He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Backus and Sarah Backus; his son Dennis Backus; and his siblings, Albert, Roy, Joe Backus, Betty Crusan and Annabelle Faulk.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Backus; his children, Deanne Backus, Glen Backus (Connie) and Denise Briggs (Steven); his stepdaughter Kimberly Chilzer (Jayme); and his sisters, Peg Hominski and Nancy Hegedus. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
