It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene E. Fontanese of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who passed away on March 2, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Popovich and Susanne Popovich (Benedict); her husband David J. Fontanese; and her siblings, John Popovich (Eileen), Mary Wandrey (Robert), Margaret "Peggy" Jugan (Michael), Martha Onofrey and Dorothy "Doe" Popovich Chila (late Walter).
She is survived by: her children, David J. Fontanese Jr. of West Mifflin, Richard Fontanese (Kathleen) of Erie, CO, Susan Fontanese, Carol Deffner (Erich) of West Mifflin, Nancy Schumann (Jim) of Old Saybrook, CT and Diane Lioon (Jeff) of Venetia; her grandchildren, John Fontanese (Stephanie), Bradley Fontanese, Olivia Fontanese (Dinesh), Maggie Schumann, James Maxwell Schumann, Katie Schumann, Alex Schumann, Jessica Lioon-Haider (Fawad), Jeffrey Lioon Jr., Ian Lioon and Anthony Lioon; and her great grandchildren, Vivienne Fontanese and Jazmine Lioon-Haider.
