He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jewel Young and Minerva Wollaston Young; his wife Judith Strode Young; his children, Barry H. Young, Sandy, Thomas W. Young and Sue; his stepchildren, Sharon Willey and Kevin; his grandchildren, Andrew Young, Alysse Young, Matthew Young, Jessica Young, Brett Young, Michael Willey, Jason Willey and Kristen Willey; his great grandchildren, Brianna Willey, Juliette Willey, Makenna Valladares and Jace Willey; and his siblings, Julia Needham and Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas' name can be made to the Avondale Presbyterian Church.
