He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles C. Fanning, Jr. and Elizabeth Schwarz Fanning Vito; his significant other Luann Altomare; his stepfather Pat Vito; and his sister Patricia Welser.
He is survived by: his children, Brandi Beimel (Matthew) of St Marys, Vicki Irwin of Lewis Run, Amber Couch of Kane, Charles Fanning, IV of Bradford and Michael Fanning of Bradford; his grandchildren, Cyruss, Richard, Robert, Calli, Bryson, Harper and Lucas; his sisters, Cheryl Fanning of Kane and Donna McPherson; his nephew Michael Vito of Plattsburgh, NY; and his close friend Brad Arnold of Ridgway.
