He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Sanko and Anna Sanko Sr. (Posinock); his wife Alma Sanko (Doubleday); and his sisters, Mary Gerhard, Theresa Gerhard, Dorothy Orlowski and Ann Charney.

He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Sanko, Jr. and Kenneth A. Sanko. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.
