He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Ashway and Susan V. Burkholder Ashway; his stepmother Clara Wingert Ashway; and his granddaughter Kaelyn Ashway. He is survived by: his children, Kathy Fike (Garry) of Waynesboro, Denton Ashway (Michelle) of Waynesboro, Vernon Ashway, Jr. (Stacy) of Waynesboro and Robert Ashway (Lori) of Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Susan Elliott, Scott Ashway and Taryn Ashway; and his siblings, Josephine Fishel (Don) of Cumberland, MD, Katherine Small (William "Bill") of Chambersburg, Phyliss Waddell (Edward "Ed") of Frederick, MD and Lloyd Ashway (Dianna) of Chambersburg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
