He was predeceased by: his parents, John Quay and Clara Fay Grube (Smail); and his daughter Mary Donovan of Georgia. He is survived by: his wife Darlene Grube (Davis); his daughters, Sherry Sonterre (Bill) of Phoenix, AZ and Laura J. Bender (Gene) of Quincy, PA; his grandchildren, Jodi Everett (Mike) of Maine, Craig Eakle (Amanda) of Denver, CO, Benjamin I. Bender of Quincy and Molly J. Bender of Quincy; his great grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, Randi Kappes, Ashely Elrod (Zach), Logan Eakle and Dylan Eakle; and his great great grandchildren, Avery and Amelia Elrod. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
