He is survived by: his parents, Donald Hess and Isabelle Hess (Benedict); his wife Loretta Hess (Jamison); his children, Irvin (Janell) and Myrna Riffey (Laban); and his siblings, Edward (Ann), Lowell (Beth) and Laura Hess (Eldon) of Chambersburg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
