He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. Bowders, Sr. and Fannie Dean Patterson (Baker); his wife Sandra A. Bowders (Wise); his granddaughter Amanda K. "Mandy" Bowders; and his siblings, Mary Jane Myers, Dean Viola McDannell, Mary Alice Coble, Daniel Bowders, Merle Bowders and Franklin Starliper.
He is survived by: his children, Karen S. Chamberlin (David) of Greencastle, Robert L. Bowders (Jennifer) of Waynesboro, Steven D. Bowders (Elaine) of Mercersburg and Michael W. Bowders (Angela) of Libertytown, MD; and his siblings, Julia Ulrich, Helen Smith, Patricia Molino, Victoria Niemeyer, Della Funk, Melvin Starliper and David Bowders. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
