He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Fitz and Nora Fitz (Hess); his wife Betty Jane Fitz (Kesselring); his siblings, Fannie Harbaugh, Jennie Harbaugh, Arlene Patterson, John W. Fitz, Jr. and Andrew A. Fitz; and his half-siblings, Merle Fitz, Ruth Heffner and Naomi Carson.
He is survived by: his son John Robert (Joyce); his granddaughter Elizabeth I. Robinson (Allen); and his great grandchildren, James M. and Allison L. Robinson of Boonsboro, MD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
