He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Smetzer and Elsa Smetzer (Bakner); and his siblings, Viola Strausner, Helen Wadel, Catherine Verdier, Ralph Smetzer and George Smetzer.
He is survived by: his wife Betty V. Smetzer (Helman); and his son Ty Smetzer (Becky) of Waynesboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
