It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lavonne L. Jones Hess of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, who passed away on October 10, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles W. Moats and Beatrice I. Moats Barnes (Haugh); her former husband Jack E. Jones; her husband Walter L. "Doc" Hess; her son-in-law Clint Payne; and her brother Charles Ordean Moats.
She is survived by: her children, Mickey L. Jones (LuAnne) of McConnellsburg, PA and Sue L. Payne of Manchester, PA; her stepdaughter Elaine K. Hess-Strite (Lois) of Chambersburg; her grandchildren, Corey Jones (Tara), Nathan Payne (Ashley), Jessica Reynolds (Joshua), Chad Jones (Nichole), Casey Jones, Kathleen Capps (Austin) and Amy Staub (Lewis); and her stepgrandson Joshua Dorand (Donna). She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
