He was predeceased by: his parents, George Gardenhour and Lillie Gardenhour (Dayhoff); his wife Margaret Gardenhour (Strausner); and his brothers, Arthur Gardenhour and Allen Gardenhour.

He is survived by: his sons, Harold Gardenhour, Jr. (Nancy) and Richard Gardenhour (Suzette); and his great grandchildren, Evan, Alexa, Ian Gardenhour, Isabella, Morgan Reh, Sofia and Chase Bodek. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 South Church Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
