It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys G. (Smith) Fitz of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, who passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvey Smith and Melzenia Grace Smith (Wolf); and her siblings, Jane Hankey (Smith), Elmer Smith, Hubert Smith, Clyde Smith and Roger Smith.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kathryn Welty of Frederick, MD, Jean Barlup of Mont Alto, PA, Theresa Jackson (Michael) of Waynesboro, PA, Christina Coyle (Kimball) of Waynesboro, PA and Jessica Fields (William) of Towson, MD; and her grandchildren, Christopher Jackson (Lori), Jennifer (Hurd), Dennis (Christopher), Meredith Welty Nickles (Steve), Jason Coyle (Jessica), Jesse Coyle (Janis), Joseph Welty (Erin), Edith Fields, Samuel Fields and Jack Fields. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Andrew Catholic Church (12 N Broad St, Waynesboro, PA 17268). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
