Elwood Michael Harris Obituary
Mr. Elwood Michael "Mike" Harris, 86, of Waynesboro, PA passed away the morning of June 30, 2020 in Quincy Village, Quincy, PA. Born March 22, 1934 in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the Elwood and Mary (Tofino) Harris. Mr. Harris served with the United States Navy during the Korean War from October 16, 1953 until his honorable discharge March 21, 1955.
He and his wife of over 45 years, Mrs. Irma Jean (Smith) Harris, were married on November 9, 1974 in Baltimore County, MD. Mr. Harris was employed as a police officer with the Baltimore City Police for three and half years. He then went on to work with the Baltimore County Fire Department, retiring as a paramedic after more than 23 years of service.
He was a life member of the Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Waynesboro and enjoyed fishing, boating, watching John Wayne movies, and singing around the house. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a step-son Joseph C. Palughi of Waynesboro; two daughters; and one sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son.
Services and burial in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Quincy Village Benevolent Care Fund, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
