He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert E. Hess and Doris Hess (Berklite); his son Michael E. Hess; and his sister Donna Potter (Hess). He is survived by: his close friend Beverly L. Hess (Stouffer) of Waynesboro; his children, Melody S. Hess of Shippensburg, David R. Stouffer (Christina) of Waynesboro and Karen E. Minnich (David) of South Mountain; his grandchildren, Dylan M. Miller of Waynesboro, Amber Cook of Shippensburg, Colby Stouffer (Megan Coblentz) of Fairfield, Reba Kauffman (Corey) of Waynesboro and Alison Nichols (Brett) of Waynesboro; his great grandchildren, Kylee Minnich of Waynesboro, Axel Nichols of Waynesboro and Adrian Nichols of Waynesboro; and his siblings, Marion Kauffman (Eddie) of South Mountain, Nancy Naugle (late Jesse Naugle) of Mont Alto, Clinton Hess (Deb) of Pond Bank and Marvin "Pete" Hess (Roxanna) of Waynesboro. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
