He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Thomas and Constance Carlton. He is survived by: his wife Patricia M. Carlton; his children, Martha Ryan Carlton, Robert Thomas Carlton, III (Ewa Timingeriu), David L. Carlton (Kelly Blough) and Mary V. Carlton; and his siblings, Christopher L. Carlton (Julia), Marianne Carlton and Dorothy A. Carlton-Herity (Bryan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
