He was predeceased by: his parents, Raphael Salvaggio and Viola Porcelli Salvaggio; and his former wife Ellie. He is survived by: his wife Eleanore Ann Ford; his children, Brenda, John, Diane and Paul; his grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Melanie, Nicole, David, Christian, Gina, Henry and Viola; his great grandchildren, Caroline and David; and his brother Anthony Salvaggio.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested gifts in memory of John to the Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org.
