He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Gardner and Frances Gardner (Stevenson); and his siblings, Laura Sheldon, Dorothy Christy and Chester A. Gardner.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie Smith Gardner; his children, Kerry Coulter (John) of Ellwood City, Charles R. Gardner Jr. (Carolyn) of Erie and Michael Gardner (Kate) of Volant; and his siblings, Gladys Martin (Bob) of Butler, Richard Gardner of Wayne Twp and Albert Gardner (Patti) of Mercer. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
