He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Bender and Jean Bender (Fuller); his brother William Bender; his nephew Michael Bender; and his father-in-law Dayton Eastman.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Bender (Eastman); his children, Kristy Bunce (Ihab Ragai), Kelly Nies (Jim) and Kyle Bender (Rachel); his siblings, Doug Bender (Tamara) and Judy Yaple; his mother-in-law Etta Eastman; his son-in-law Jim Bunce; and his grandchildren, Lindsey, Casey, Ava, Jasmine, Cale, Paige, Hazel, Deegan and Lennon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a circle of close friends.
