He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward G. Harty and Jean Harty (McKay); and his spouse Francis E. Stachnick. He is survived by: his children, Tara Preyer (John, Sr.) of Milton and Richard J. Harty, Jr. of California; his siblings, Donald Harty of Arizona, Dennis Harty of Downingtown and Karen Hopkins of Hawley; and his grandchildren, Alicia Buss (Richard), John Preyer, Jr. and Ace Michael Harty.
