He was predeceased by: his grandfather John Esser; and also Paul Hart. He is survived by: his parents, Jennifer Leigh Luczak (Esser) and Michael Eugene Orr; his stepfather Gregory Luczak; his son Leighton Scott Esser; his brothers, Christopher Pytlarz and Hayden Luczak; and his grandparents, Judy "Nana" Esser, Judy Hart, Betty Orr and Tom Orr. He is also survived by cousins, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards a scholarship fund for Ryan's son, Leighton.
