He was predeceased by: his parents, Verne O. Hodgens and Margaret Elizabeth Rush. He is survived by: his wife Betty Waychoff; his children, Robert E. Hodgens of Clinton Township, Daniel John (Cathy) of Charleston, Thomas John (Melissa) of Raleigh, Michelle R. Gipe (Randy) of Harrisburg, Kathy A. Godwin (Craig) of Ft. Pierce and Aileen Chivers (James) of Washington; his brother Charles E. Hodgens of California; his brother-in-law Andrew Vickers; his siblings, James Hodgens and Elizabeth Vickers; and his sister-in-law Priscilla Hodgens. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
