He was predeceased by: his parents, Antonio Nicolella and Nicolina Macchiaroli Nicolella; and his wife Patricia Sawchuck. He is survived by: his children, Michael J. Nicolella (Missy) of Washington, Joni Nicolella Spear (Dan Stanton) of Smithfield, VA and Joseph J. Nicolella Jr. (Lisa) of Milan Ohio; his grandchildren, Margaret (Thomas Nicolella), Jack, Katie (Joseph Spear) and Anthony (Alyssa Nicolella); and his brothers, Angelo Nicolella and Robert Nicolella. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
