He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harry M. Chapman and Nellie Mae McClure Chapman; his wife Alice Mae Seiler; his daughters, Linda Schooler (Stan) of Floyds Knobs, Joan Chapman (Jeff) of Washington and Jackie Campbell (James) of Sycamore; and his siblings, Barbara L. Fisher of Pittsburgh, Robert Chapman, Thelma Van Zandt, Mildred McHargue and Ben Chapman. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
