He was predeceased by: his parents, William Girt and Florence Girt (Davis); his former wife Connie Girt (Howell); his son Kenneth Dale Girt; his grandsons, Ethan M. Sedlacek and Abraham D. Sedlacek; and his brother William Girt.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tamara L. Schultz (Robert) of Curwensville, PA and Laura L. Sedlacek (Todd) of Bethel Township; his grandchildren, Joshua Sedlacek (Allison) of Apollo, Matthew Schultz of Blawnox, Nathaniel Sedlacek (Melissa) of Leechburg and Sydney; his great grandchildren, Elijah, Isaac, Isaiah and Katherine; and his fiancée Sarah "Sally" Dombrowski of Vandergrift. He is also survived by one niece; three nephews.
