He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar W. Vantassel and Maybelle Vantassel (Burgess); his wife Cheryl L. Vantassel (Gess); his son Michael Vantassel Jr.; and his sisters, Babby Vantassel and Debra Vantassel (Darr).
He is survived by: his children, Dena Carr (Frank) of Texas, Andrew Darr (Amani) of Alabama and Stacy Simonsen (Dan) of Ohio; and his siblings, Tammy Eaves, Edgar Vantassel Jr. and Lorraine Bailes. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.
