He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thornton and Emelia Mack Thornton; and his siblings, Grace Lamphier, Adam Thornton and Guy Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Ann Wehler Thornton; and his siblings, Dr. Leonard Thornton of British Columbia, Peter Thornton of Warren, William Thornton of Warren, Agatha Kiser of Youngsville and Rita Thornton of Warren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
