She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Noah J. Underwood and Edna Ward Underwood of Blacksburg, VA.; her husband Robert V. Rowland of Philadelphia, PA; and her brother Cecil Underwood of Blacksburg, VA.. She is survived by: her son Louis Gibson Whitlock; her daughter-in-law Kathryn of Blacksburg, VA; her brothers, Bobby Underwood (Jenny) of Christiansburg, VA and Tommy Underwood (Lori) of Tacoma, WA.; and her close friends, Patti, Irv and Nicole Loun. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, wonderful friends, neighbors.

“Growing up in WA we didn't get to see my dad's family much nd we didn't get to have close relationships with them. I always felt robbed of that but aunt Naomi didnt need us close to love us. She would visit and it was like you meant the world to her. I always felt such a strong bond to her even though we were miles apart. She was truly special to our whole family. I am thankful for the promise we have in our savior that one day I will see her again. Until then Heaven gained a truly amazing lady.”
