Dennis Scheckler wrote a sympathy message

“OMG, I am so very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I just recently learned of his passing. I was a good friend of Joe’s from the Navy and Air Force Reserves. We served together for quite a long time. Joe was beyond a doubt one of the kindest, nicest people I have ever met in my life. After Joe retired, we lost touch with each other. I last saw Joe at his civilian retirement. It was great to see him. Plenty of happy memories of Joe. My condolences to his wife Kathy, Joe Jr., Kathy, Debbie, Patty!”
