He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair W. Koontz and Alberta Koontz (Winter); and his brother Herbert Koontz. He is survived by: his wife Mary V. Koontz (Wills); his children, Roger L. Black (Wanda), Wavy A. Kirk (John), Alberta C. Brandow (Teariki), Jenny R. Koontz and David C. Koontz Jr. (Jennifer); and his sisters, Joanne Hollenshead and Kay Anderson. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
