He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Atherton and Emma Atherton (Wenger); his brother Richard Atherton; and his niece Dorinda Atherton. He is survived by: his children, Michael (Deah), Rodney (Jackie) and Tina; his grandchildren, Tyler (Sandy), Ben (Amber), Kai and Megan; his great grandchild Kenzee; his brothers, Barry Atherton (Carolyn) and Edward Atherton; his nieces, Dawn, Sherri and Autumn; and his nephew Eric.
