It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marie A. Shafara of Wapwallopen, Pennsylvania, born in Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania, who passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Zidek and Elizabeth Zidek Nice (Beezup); her husband Alex Shafara; and her siblings, John Zidek, Joseph Zidek, William Zidek, Andrew Zidek and Elizabeth Pernick.

She is survived by: her daughter Sharon Mylet (Frank) of Wapwallopen; and her grandchildren, Maureen Kocher (Kregg) and Frank Mylet (Lee). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, http://www.heart.org.
